Solid Shots Series

At its core, Web3 is an incredibly rich and radical set of technologies with unlimited value creation potential. However the signal to noise ratio in this space is very poor.

I've tinkered with various Web3 technologies for a few years now. Especially the last year, co-creating FNDX and launching our first broad market product, my experience in Web3 has been intense and deeply satisfying. The dominant narrative of the next decade will be around the power shift from entities to individuals. More and more power around the globe will move away from the concentrated few and accrue to individuals in the 100s of millions. This power shift will happen under the framework of Web3.

As of today too many rational folks have an irrational paranoia about Web3. Many of you are justifiably repelled by the off putting dogma that goes around in this industry. There is a dearth of meaningful resources or commentary about Web3. It's like a beautiful game of cricket being played, but the commentary is non-existent or worse misleading. No different from a Sachin Tendulkar straight drive without a Tony Greig calling it “What a shot! What a player!”

Through "Solid Shots'' in this series, we will explore Web3 concepts and see them transparently for what they are. My attempt with each "Solid Shot" is to provide my commentary on some of Web3's natural unusualness, its radical architecture and overlooked underpinnings.

Web3 is unusual. Unusual, game changing technologies should not be presented as familiar or as an incremental innovation to its users. Also, it's impossible for anyone to bring out the true nature of Web3 without occasionally digressing to code. I will be using Solidity - the goto lang for smart contracts and friends as necessary. But there is a difference. I will make all efforts to cut the jargon and to make these shots read like English. So prior coding knowledge is certainly not required to tune in to Solid Shots.
